On February 27^th a Conference was held at Azerbaijan State Economic University (UNEC) on the topic of “Commercialization of academic research in universities: International realities and new challenges”.

Opening the event, Rector of the University Adalat Muradov said that, taking into account the March 27 Science Day in the country, UNEC launches "Science Month" and plans to hold more than 20 different scientific events at the university. . Speaking about the relevance of the topic of the conference, A.Muradov noted that the commercialization of the results of scientific researches was required to transfer its results to the world of science.

Professor Kamran Imanov, Chairman of Board of Intellectual Property Agency, made a presentation on "Commercialization of Intellectual Property and Scientific Research Results". Speaking about the relevance of the topic, K. Imanov said that with the support of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan has created a rich national legislative framework for intellectual property. Models of national innovation systems, share of knowledge-based sectors in GDP, dynamics of inventory indicators were announced in the presentation. At the same time, it was mentioned the tasks facing universities in terms of commercialization. K. Imanov stressed the importance of effective use of opportunities, highlighting the high potential of innovation in the country, noting the importance of upgrading the modern model of scientific activity to the university level 3.0.. K. Imanov said that the formation of a knowledge-based society in the country and investing in human capital is one of the strategic goals of the state and joint cooperation with universities will broadly contribute this field.
